Played golf yesterday and it sounded like a lot of squirrel hunting going on. They were either getting a lot or just really bad shots.

It's not looking like I will get any squirrel hunting in this year. It has just been too hot and I usually don't go once Deer season starts.

Looks like the weather is looking up. But now it is time to start thinking about a bigger 4 legged animal.

hopefully this up coming weekend will be better than last... while out hunting turkey if it gets slow i will try to pop a few tree rats...last weekend even the rats stayed at home due to the constant rain showers and wind gusts.

I seriously have never see squirrels that big. This girl that moved out here from New York told me they had big squirrels in upstate New York and that they actually eat them. I thought what a waste, thinking that a Utah squirrel would be close to what she was talking about. i can see by the pic. that the N.Y. squirrels are big!!! our squirrels ain't worth skinning, it would be like eating chicken wings, why bother. So do you eat them?

You guys ever BBQ them on the grill? I did it a couple years ago, they weren't bad that way but the next time I think I might treat them like Brats and boil them first and then throw them on the grill.

yes i will do them on the grill. take one tree rat and lay him on his back in a tinfoil loaf pan. add peppers onions and other seasoning's along with a bottle of beer.......labatt blue comes highly recomended take the left over peppers and onion and fill the cavity of the tree rat. put this on the grill...low and slow. aproximatly 1 hour... meat will be tender and moist and you can eat it like you would a chicken leg throw some brat's on the side along with some seasoned venison backstraps and you have yourself some good eats........ plus the beer tastes good too ;D
