For me it has to be .003 and in the 7gr. or under range for the compounds.
I still keep it light for the traditional stuff but I will go out to .005 and up to 8.5 grs.
The biggest thing overall is the streagth of the material itself as not all carbon is equal in this respect.
I have found the Gold Tip and Carbon Exspress shafts to be the best in this area when talking average shaft and factoring out the super shafts.
For the super shafts I will take the Alaskian shafts anyday.

I am wanting to switch to the Gold Tips, I think the one's I'm looking at are .002 and 7.2
I've always shot Beamans but want to broaden my experience.
I'm hoping to buy a few different brands this year, maybe 1/2 dozen, and experiement with them. Different brands, different vanes/feathers and so on.

IMO you should be impressed after shooting Beaman shafts.
I really gave them a good and fair try but they just didnt compair to the gold tips and the goldtips are behind the Carbon exspress in my exsperience.

I shoot Carbon Express Maxima 250s. They came recommended to me by my bow shop pro, and they are all I have shot.

I have always shot the Beamans, mainly because that was my first arrows, that is what I could afford at the time.
Now I am ready to broaden my horizen.
