Bob and I went hunting Friday, December 1st and we both got lucky...I shot at 4:20 and he shot at 4:50. He dropped his in a field and of course my deer had to run off...and no one was at the camp, so we came back into town to get help. Found my deer - a 110 lb. doe. Got home at 11:00 at night...Boy were we tired. We now have meat, thank goodness! mariandeer ;D

You do realize you are in direct violation of Lodge rule 6-(b) 3.4 that states in part "Thou shalt always have a camera at hand when taking an animal during hunting"? I believe the punishment is sending one backstrap to Michi ASAP!! ;D ;D ;D

Well, I got me a big fat (135lb) doe this season on December 30th. (Did not forget my camera this time) She came out and fed by herself and was hoping another deer would pop out so I could sized it up and here comes a smaller doe. I put it behind the shoulder around 5:20 and shot. Stayed on my stand until dark-thirty and waited for two other hunters to come out that were hunting down from me. We found out that the doe had gone off down a deep/steep ravine...we all had to go back to the camp to get reinforcements...5 more hunters! It was a night to remember. Will try and post my picture if I can figure it out. I'm with Rex a hunter/friend who's families camp Bob and I were invited to hunt on at the edge of the MS Delta called the Christmas Place Plantation and Hunting Club. ;D ;D ;D ;D PS: Rex has a real neat blog at bodocktimes.blogspot.com called "Deer Camp Blog"...it is a good read everyday on hunting and ghost stores.

Another picture of me taken a few weeks ago between hunts with my daughter. It's so nice to have a daughter or grandchild to hunt with you. A lot of quality time spent together and precious memories made!

Did not get to take Ethan this year but took my 17 year old grandson, Carl. Put him on my stand using my gun (I used Bob's) and he missed a 10 pt. buck. That made him sick. Later we got invited to my granddaughter's family land and I did not see anything but Carl used my gun and saw a yearling, a doe and an 8 pt. together. He aimed for the neck of the 8-pt. and they all just stood there. He shot again and missed the 8 pt. and the doe fell. A family member came to help him with the doe and when they were getting the deer, he tripped and fell backwards and hit his head on dry clay bed trying to cross a small creek. He had a big knot on his head and a headache to boot. When I took his picture with his doe later he was not feeling very well. He said he pulled the gun up in front of him and when he fell the gun came across his chest and the barrel hit him across his nose and forehead and hit his glasses. At least he got a deer and meat in his moms (Kathy's) freezer. My daughter, Kathy, when I took her hunting telling me what she saw. A doe and yearling feeding and waited for the big buck to come from behind, but never showed up! At least we both saw deer moving with the warm weather we are having.
