I am torn between getting a laser range finder and a muzzle loader,, not sure which I should get first? I could get the rangefinder and use it during archery and save up for a muzzle loader and have it by ML season.

Sounds like you have answered your own question. ;D
For me, the next question would be, will the muzzleloader replace the shotgun or just to extend your firearm season?
I don't own one because I generally have the deer I need before that season comes in. Since I like my shotgun, I've never felt the need to get one.

I have never had a muzzle loader and always wanted one, so it would be to add TO my hunting availability since I can use the ML for predator hunting as well ;D

If it were me, I would still go with your first answer. Get the rangefinder and save for the muzzleloader. But that is just me.

either way will have to put what ever I get on the plastic,,may get crazy and get both since my new card has zero interest on purchases for 1 year.

Personally, I'd resist the temptation of running up the card, but that's me....get the range finder first, save up for the smokestick. I've never shot a muzzleloader myself, but like you, I'd like to add it to my inventory someday...I'm stiil trying to decide between a pop-up blind or a climber....decisions, decisions... ;D....'slap...

Well the only reason I am even remotely considering both is because of the no interest for 1 year,,kind of like a lay away plan you get immediately.

How long is muzzle loader season for you? A ML is fun to shoot. I had one but the season was just to short. When i live in LA. The season was 2 weeks. 4 day for me hunting weekends. I would get the ranger finder first IMO..

Muzzleloader season here in Indiana is also just 2 weeks. But a lot of guys have started using them during gun season as well.

Well I went ahead and jumped off the deep end and killed to birds with 1 credit card,,LOL. I decided on the CVA Buckhorn Muzzle loader, it is a 50 cal Magnum with 209 primer, it is an in line for $99.86 it looks pretty simple and the price was right for a first time ML shooter. If I really get hot and heavy into it then I can always pass it on to 1 of my stepsons and upgrade from there, but it should be fine for what I need. Second I got the Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport laser range finder been wanting to get one of these for a long time and it was $179.94, so now I am all set up for any kind of hunting, still have to get some amo for the ML, have decided on the Powerbelt sabots and thinking on the triple7 powder pellets. Here is a pic of the 2.

Are you going to put a scope on the ML. Fun watch the smoke in the scope. I wouldn't use more than 100 grain of power..

I never was big on scopes am a open site kind of guy. This has some great fiber optic sights, I imagine 100 grns will be what I go with it will handle 150 but 100 should be fine.I think if I stay with the 295 powerbelts 100-120 should work out great.

I heard that cva can not handle the pressure that 150 grain will put out. I used 100 grain with , I think is was 265 sabot bullet.. I had a Remington 700 ML..

I would opt for loose powder over pellets. If you do use pellets, be sure to weigh them and group them into like weights. With loose powder you can measure yourself and make sure ever load is identical. With pellets, you will have a hell of a time getting consistant groups and waste more time and money trying to find the problem. If you do decide to use te pellets, just make sure you weigh them for consistantcy.
As for the CVA not being able to take the 150gr. load, I have heard that also and have chated with Randy Wakeman personally about it on another forum. He states that you use no more than 100gr. of any powder so that you dont put iany stress fractures in the barrel.
I forgot to add, my best friend has the Buckhorn and it is a tack driver once you find the right load for it. I also have the same range finder and it is great. I like guessing a distance and then using it to see how close I was.
