Please Respond
As much as I like adding things to this board to make it more fun and appealing I am concerned that it may affect the response time. I myself use cable for the internet so I don't have too much problem, but how many of you use dial up and is it taking longer or too long to load? I don't want to have people not come because it takes too long for the pages to load.
We are getting some good suggestions for catagories and other things but I know all of this effects how quick the board runs. So please let me know if you are having any problems. There are always ways of fixing things.
Thanks Mike

As Ted said in another thread, when I click to open the Hunting Lodge, it is a bit slower to open. I am using DSL, but could imagine how long it would be for dial up users. One suggestion might be to eliminate the moving icons in signatures. Sorry Ted...nothing against the big blue. Just with all Ted's posts as an example, that is a lot of stuff to load.

I just moved all the small game into sub boards. It seems this has helped some. Can anyone tell?

I don't see any change when I load the main forum page. That seems to present the main problem. Clicking on topics loads fine.

I took the animation out of my sig also. I will keep playing with it until it's better. Won't have the time today, got to go to work early. But we'll get there.

Well you can't be the best if you don't work it. I know we have a long way to go, but I think we are headed in the right direction. And I think our core members are a big part of that.

Using DSL...loading time is appropriate...possibly faster than most other forum sites which I belong. I really think you've designed a great site. Any changes that I've seen (in the last few days) have improved the "feel" and speed as well. Keep up the good work!

Well, actually I think I know what the problem is. I'll have to wait til tomorrow to fix it because I'm at work. Like I said, I'm on cable so it don't effect me that much but I did notice that it was a touch slower so that is why I was concerned for anyone that uses dial up. I still remember how frustrating the wait was sometime. Anyway, I started noticing it when I upgraded the info section. Even though I like the new info section, if it is going to cause anyone grief I don't have a problem with the old one. So I will play with it tomorrow and see if changing it back speeds it up again. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

Mike I've noticed that the fishing board is getting larger, Hope that doesn't slow things down. I too am on cable so I have no problems with the site loading.

Nope, make it grow. ;D It won't effect the speed. It is slow from time to time but that is due to the server not this particular board. I use to think so but after reshearch I found that it was not.
This company that hosts the boards has 90 some servers with over a million boards hosted. Sometimes, or frequently, the board will run slow but that is due to the amount of traffic on a particular server.
So post away. She may run slow but not from the posts.

Hey guys,,try right clicking what you want to open and click open in new window.Sometimes when a server is busy it will help,,plus you don`t have to hit back button to get to main page.

That's good to hear hound dogger.
I've always worried about the members that use dial up. Didn't want to totally overdue it and then they would get too frustrated to join. I know I would. ;D
