this is copied from my original post on the Realtree Forums Yesterday afternoon I went out to hunt another piece of land . It was real warm, around 60, and dead quiet. I got settled in about 2pm sitting on a ledge, over looking a swamp. At about 2:30 I picked up the rattle bag, and did some semi aggressive rattling, grunted a bit, rattled some more. then I did a few more grunts, and hit the Primos can. Just as I put everything down, I hear something coming fast. I can't believe it. This has to be a buck. He comes into view about 120 yards away. He gets into a hemlock thicket, and starts thrashing at the trees, and making a ground scrape. I need him to come around the near side of the thicket, giving me a 35 - 40 yard shot. Of course he goes around the far side. I pick up the grunt, and grunt at him trying to get him to turn. He is oblivious to it. He walks into an opening about 65 yards away. and almost stops. He is about 20 yards from going into the swamp and out of sight. I'm shooting an open sight 870 with a smooth slug barrel. Its a longer shot than I have taken with it at a deer. I fire, and he folds in his tracks. I couldn't believe it. I can't believe it after 17 years with no bucks, and only having shot at 1, I take 2 bucks in 2 days. He isn't huge, but I'm so happy. It was so cool to actually rattle a deer in. I'm even smiling this time !!!

Great shooting Tedi!! Unbeleivable how a persons luck can change in an instant. What do you attribute your change in luck to? Was it location, tactics, or just plain luck?

I noticed you said it was 60 degrees out. Pretty warm for that time of year. Sometimes luck is better than shill, huh? ;D
