I personally prefer spinning reels but have used baitcasters in the past. There's definitely an art to using them. Lord knows how many yards of line I went through before finally getting the knack of it. Anyone else have the same troubles?

I have about 6-7 baitcasters and when I started using them I had birds nests all over the place. But with alot of practice I overcame that and got pretty good with them,,I love them now.

I have 5 baitcasters, I too had a nest till I figured out how to use them, I love using them. You can place your lure right were you wish, The retrieve seems to be much faster then a spin-cast, or spinning reel. Just have to remember to thumb the reel when you cast your line, set the magnet right and you'll do fine.

I have 3-4 bait casters. I really like them too. Once you get the hang of them, they ae fun to use and catch fish with. I am a Quantum man.....only way to be. I have one Shimano that came on a rod I bought at a pawnshop. It does really good too, but I still love my Quantums.
