I know some of you guys must have a tree or trees that hold a "special"place in your hearts. Maybe its the one that is your "lucky" tree... a stand of deer magnet pines ,etc.. I'll start this thread off with some trees that are very special to me. Between 1973 and 1983, I planted these in Pa.. They all were about 3 1/2 ' tall when I planted them. They were planted to represent my three children. The largest is a Douglas Fir that I planted in 73, when my son was four years old. The next largest one on the left is a Co. Blue Spruce which is for my oldest daughter and the smaller one in the right background is also a Doug Fir for my youngest daughter. These trees are much larger now. These pic's were taken about 5 years ago. Can't tell you the number of times ex family members wanted to have the largest one cut down and donated to the State to be displayed in the State Capitol Rotunda for Christmas. Aint gonna happen.

I'll have to drive by the house we grew up in and get some pics of the trees my Mom and Dad planted. And they did the same as you Scott, naming them after certain individuals. Usually in memorium of their death. Always thought it was good symbolism of their eternal life.

Them sure are some big o trees. I haven't seen them in about 4 or 5 years and as fast as they have been growing , they should be a lot larger now. Next time I'm back in Pa. , I want to check them out. Sure hope no one has taken a chain saw to them. The Whitetails love bedding down around and under them. BTW, The brushy-looking tree on the right hand side of the pic is a Hazelnut(Filbert) tree that was planted around the same time as the big Doug Fir.

The trees are nice and big but, the land is being sold to a non-family member, so who knows what will happen then. If I was still in the area I would have bought the property. Money ruled the day after my Grandmother died. She was the one who owned the property.
