Well I have put these shafts through the tests on both Compound and recurve and have what I need in order to have an opinion.
For my use I chose the Grizzly sticks which are one of three shafts made by Alaska Archery Supply and are thier shaft reccomended for bows 50 - 80#.
I first shot them out of a 60# compound and the flight was superior but suffered from trajectory diffrences compaired to other shafts
No surprise there as these shafts nearly double the weight of my current CX shafts.
For those who want that Heavy shaft, this is the leader in the field
The Brass inserts seemed questionable to me and sure enough (in an impact test)the field tip shank broke off inside of the insert.
Be that as it may,The shaft itself withstood a direct strike into a concrete block at 20 yrds with nothing more than mortor dust to be wiped away afterwards.
The Nocks are glue ons and are neither the best or worst, although I would prefer an insertion nock.
The shafts are striking in appearance with the weave and amber tone and the continous taper also will have newbees questioning you as to what you are shooting (maybe even some not so newbees)
Out of a recurve or long bow,These are the end all shaft for tuning I.M.O. as the flight is unquestionably the smoothest I have seen from any arrow.
I shot shafts from 32" to 28" out of one bow and the spline diffrence was a non-factor...Amazing!
Alaska makes a new sitka shaft for lighter bows with the same high shaft weight so those who have bows under 50# still have a shaft in this heavy weight class.
I could go on but I dont want to bore you
Lastly,Probably the best silencer on the market (for a noisey bow) are these shafts

For lighter spline shafts (suitable for 50 -60# bows) the alaska sitka is the same heavy weight high quality product.
