Where are the Traditional posts Personally I made the mistake of laying off and my shot group went to the birds ....so I am working on it again with success. This time I wont let it get away from me again I have been shooting alot more 3-D's this year and all save one with the recurve and yet the slacking off during the week has hurt the last couple of shoots Not bad yesterday though...got a 242 on the round out of a possible 300

I didn't give up, in fact I'm just getting started. I have a 55# recurve that was my dads that didn't have a string on it for 33 years. My friend Kasey (intruder) made a string for me, gave me some fingers, a couple arrows and some field points, and now I'm actually spending time and money flinging these little sticks into hay bales. Yes, that Kasey is twisting my arm pretty hard. He let me shoot his compound and now I have to go buy one of those too. But the recurve is pretty special to me. I bought some arrows and stuff and have been practicing shooting that thing. I am certainly not good, but I keep improving. I can now hit the hay bale so often at 10 yards that I decided to move out to 20. Yes, I can hit the hay bale at 20 yards almost every time, sometimes my arrows even get near my aim point. Yes, I am proud of that feat. At one time those suckers would just fling off to one side or the other so badly that the people standing behind me would duck.
My realistic goal is to someday take a deer with that bow, and my daydream goal is to take an elk.

STAY WITH IT !!! Anyone can stick a bulls eye with a compound There is real honor in doing it with a stick Both are great fun but real satisfaction comes from the longbow/recurve for me. It took 1 1/2 years for me to come into a groove where I was confident of taking a deer and that was with 200 - 300 arrows a day every day all through the year. It will happen and I have lots of easy to follow hints to help you get there faster if need be. Bottom line is stick with it !

I have been so busy that I have not been able to do any shooting, boy that is sad!! Me too. I haven't done any shooting, compound or trad., in a while. I am constantly either by a phone or the computer for emails from Chicago. We leave in two and a half weeks and so much has yet to approved from the State of Michigan. They are cutting it close. I should shoot just to take my mind off things.
