Here is the thought and I would ask you to read the lay out , consider it ....then reply with your views/ideas ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the Preserve where Lockmaster and I just came back from , they have a jamboree each year where everyone paid $225. a head to come and have a hunt weekend. The prices are going to have to go up due to cost but I am figuring $275. for next year. The way that this place is able to do this is that it is a real hunt in as much as you are not going to be getting any promises other than that there are going to be animals there and you will have as good a chance as anyone. The property has a percentage of animals to hunters (6 to 10 ratio that is) and that means that 6 hunters are going to get an animal for a price never even heard of in this part of America and 4 are going to get skunked Never the less...My idea is a bit different in as much as I believe that no one should reap all the benefits while some reap none. I would purpose that the hunt jamboree be done as it has been with the exception that each hunter who scores should willingly give 50% of their kill to the members who did not. That would leave 1 whole pig for a Saturday night Pig Roast and I am sure that we could arrange for that set up if we were going to do this with enough warning Well that is the idea in a condensed form. Just wanted to see what you all thought

I like it!! That would certainly make the cost worthwhile for everybody and I for one would have no problem sharing a hog. The only problem I could foresee is if three people got 150 pounders and the other three got 250 pounders. But the concept is quite reasonable in any event. And I'm assuming that that ratio is for more than just 10 people right. So conceivably, a group could actually get their 10 for 10 right? But that could also be construed as 0 for 10 too.

The reason for the deal on price is that there are only enough animals to be afforded by the total pooled money. Therefor , at 10 in and $300. ea. + 3K = 6 hogs. The price stays the same for the owner of the preserve but this allows more people to have a chance to hunt a hog at a fair more reasonable price. As far as scoring a hog it comes down to a bit of luck and a bit of skill It's just an idea and there would be no reason that a normal hunt In an area with an overabundance of hogs could not be accessed for the normal fee's. As to the weight factor....good point and one that I had though of but I used the 50% formula to keep it short. I would suggest a true split and the meat scaled out. There is another larger preserve in the area that I have been to which I believe could arrange for this hunt and they have a great facility for the butchering same as you might find in the local butchers shop. With many hands everything could be cut and wrapped for the transport home which would be helpful to everyone and it could be done in a couple of hours when everyone pitches in.

All in all, I think this is a great plan! A true split among the hunters would be the way to go! I have a 300 acre or so area here in Va. where I hunt deer on occasion with about 12-14 other hunters. At the end of the hunt, we all pitch in on the butchering and divvy all the meat equally among all the hunters. So no matter who scores or who doesn't and who get the bigger ones and who gets the smaller ones, everyone get an equal share of meat and they have all experienced the joy of the hunt. I think once the "first time" hog hunters experiences the thrill of the chase and the action and excitement of a hog hunt as well as the time spent with friends and the memories, the meat will be considered an extra bonus and all would be willing to share without reservation. As I said once, after my hunt with BT last weekend, even if I had given all the meat away, it was still well worth the trip for the adventure!! I truly find that on a hunt such as this, just the fun and excitement, the thrills and time spent among friends makes it well worth the price!!

I think it is a great idea and would love to participate.
