That's a beauty, I bet he had fun bringing that one in. I remember catching my first decent size bass, I was probably just a bit younger than your boy. I bout had a heart attack. ;D

Wish I had some pics of the fish I used to catch in New England & the Caribbean. We used to surf cast for sharks on Cape Cod. Bluefish and Stripped bass always put up great fights.
Oh well, will have my digital for those freshwater fish I will be catching. ;D

Very true. Just have to keep it warm enough to take pics out on the ice...or in the woods during December.

I'll never forget my oldest boys first bass. He was only about 3 1/2. We were at a pond by the property I owned near Traverse City and I was walking the shore trying to find that trophy fish when my wife yells to me that my son got his Scooby Doo fishing rig fouled and snagged. I yell back "I'll be right there!!" While I'm walking towards him, I'm watching him trying to yank the pole and it's bending in half. Yep!! Sure enough, it must be snagged on a log or something. So I casually walk to him and I grab the pole to see if I can free it when I feel the darn thing tugging back!! I give him the pole back and tell him to start reeling!! The drag was set too light so I grab the pole set the drag heavier and give it back to him. He's struggling with all his might to crank that thing and finaly gets it close enough to the shore where he can see the fish!! He screams his head off while trying to give me the pole and I'm telling him "Just reel son!!" So the little guy starts walking backward to drag the fish instead of reeling because his little arms were so tired. He gets it on shore and sure enough, it's a 5.5# Bucketmouth!! Unbelievable. The funny thing was that I took a little piece of a rubber worm and put in on his hook cuz I got tired of re-baiting his hook everytime he caught a little gil. Sure enough, the young man skunked his dad!! One of the biggest smiles I ever had in my life!! ;D

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like all the good stories are centered around a child!! They usually bring the biggest smiles from us, don't they?
