Mike~ Almost... about a half mile down the road from my place. All the pics were taken on my neighbor's ranch. I have permission to hunt on it . This will be my first year hunting this property. There are quite a few whitetails and antelopes in this area also. The adjacent ranch to this one (got permission there too) has a large pond on it and is excellent waterfowl country along with pheasants , Merrium's turkeys AND MORE Whitetails/ Mule deer!

Larry~ No elk in this area. I have to drive about 15-20 miles up into the bigger timber for them.

Your Welcome Timmie & ScottC ! I'm a pic postin nut so more will be posted. Timmie~ I thought the same thing about a few of those bucks myself.. Took the pic's of the two together about 3 or 4 weeks ago. We have had some very dry weather out here for about 4 months and maybe that has something to do with the bucks not fattening up as fast. Right now, they like to "hang out" near the rancher's field watering pivots where the grasses etc. are much greener and lusher. Because of my job, (MT Fish Wildlife & Parks) I get to drive through this area and others every day and always have my camera handy. I keep hoping to see those two bigger bucks to "shoot" them now that their antlers should be fully grown and about to shed their velvet. If I do, for sure I'll post the pic's for ya.

I'm gonna leave a little earlier and try to catch a glimse of them. If we get rain tonight( supposed to) they will be moving around in the morning. I'm really curious to see how much their racks have grown in the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping to "hang' one during firearms season.

Great Pics BIg Sky!! And a game warden to boot!! You are certainly a man to envy!! Thanks M-hunter. btw, I'm not a warden... I'm a fishing access site maintenance man. I take care of 15 access sites within a 125 mile radius of my home. They are on the Madison, Gallatin, Jefferson and upper Missouri rivers. The Mad.,Jeff.& Gal. are the "headwaters" of the Missouri located in Three Forks,MT.along the Lewis and Clark trail about 6 miles from my house. I love my job. Out every day working by myself in God's great outdoors. No time clocks, scheduled "break" buzzers, supervisors breathing down your neck, production quotas, etc.,etc.. Been there ..done that for too many years.I've got lots of scars on my tongue from having to bite it for all those years. Believe me, I do know how lucky I am to be living and working out here. Beautiful country and working for a great Agency.
