What is the WebRing?A WebRing is one of the easiest ways for visitors to navigate the Web on topics of interest. It is a group of web sites that have banded together to form their sites into linked circles.
What is The Huntin Lodge Ring? This is a Ring that brings together websites that are about hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
How does it work? Each site is approved by the Ring Master and then in is linked together via a navigation code forming a chain so that every website in the ring is linked to each other. You can travel around the web and will eventually come back to the first site that you started at.
How much does it cost to join?Nothing this is a free service that we are doing to bring great sites together.
Joining The RingWhat are the requirements to join?A) Your site must be about hunting, fishing or the great outdoors.
B) No pornographic or just link sites will be accepted.
C) There must be content to your site. Link sites will not be accepted.
D) The must be placed on a site that has content. It cannot be placed on a page of rings or links.
E) The Navigation Bar must be added to your site, and must stay on your site. All sites will be checked on a regular basis to ensure the code is there. If the code is removed from the registered page your account will be suspended and if not corrected will be deleted from the Ring. If you move your website please make sure to make the change on WebRing too.
How do I join?Click on this link:
j.webring.com/hub?ring=huntinlodgering click on "Join This Ring" and fill out the form. Make sure you add the code to your site as your site will not be approved until the code is in place.
How long does it take? The form to join only takes a few minutes to fill out and I try to check everyday for new sites. For the most part though it will take no more then 48 hours.
The Navigation BarWhat is this Navigation Bar code? The Navigation Bar code is a code that you must add to your website to be added to the Ring. It is actually a couple lines of javascript code that loads the bar from the webring server. It consists of links that allow users to navigate the ring.
Why do I have to add it to my site? You have to add it to your site to link it with the other sites in the Ring. Remember it is like a necklace and each site is a link. Visitors should be able to travel the ring eventually ending up where they began. If you do not add the code you will not get the visitors to your site as they will not be able find you.
What happens if I don't add the Navigation Bar code to my site? You will not be added to the Ring and you will not benefit from the extra traffic that a Ring can generate.
The colors do not match my site, can I change it?I am sorry but the navigation bar is uploaded to your site from the WebRing server and cannot be altered.
Can I place the Navigation Bar wherever I want? You must place the code on the site that you registered when you joined the ring. Remember you cannot place it on a links only page. If you site contains several pages most people will post the code on the first page of their site.
I am a member of several rings already. Can I put them all on one page? With the Webring navigation code, you only need to place it on your site once no matter how many webrings you belong to. Remember though the code MUST be on the page that you registered when you joined.
What happens if I move the Navigation Bar code to another page in my site or move my site to a different server? The first thing you need to do is to log into your WebRing account and update your site information by changing your URL. If you fail to do this then the code will become invalid and will not work within the ring. If this happens then your site will be suspended from the ring until the URL has been changed on your WebRing account and will eventually be deleted from the ring if the change is not made in a reasonable amount of time.
ProblemsI can't get the Navigation Bar code to work. Can you help? The code that WebRing provides you with can be copied and pasted into your webpage editor. I use Front Page and may be able to help you but your best bet would be to check the Help/Support link on the top of any WebRing page.
I did everything but I haven't been added. What's wrong?
Is your site up and running? Did you place the code on the page that you registered?
Does your site meet the criteria for the WebRing?
If you have checked all of the above feel free to email/PM me and I will take a look and see if I can figure out what the problem is.
Why was my site suspended or deleted? The majority of sites are suspended or deleted because the Navigation Bar Code failed to pass. Did you recently move your website? Did you move the code to a different page and forget to update your URL on your WebRing account? Is your webpage "down"? Again please check all of these things and if you still do not know why your site has been suspended or deleted please email me and I will look into it.
What do you mean, my site isn't right for the ring? Not all sites that apply to be a part of this Ring will be accepted. I have already pointed out that all link sites will not be accepted. If your site is denied I will provide a reason why in the WebRing email that you will receive.
What if my question isn't answered here?Again your best bet is to check the WebRing Help/Support Pages out. If you still cannot find the answer please feel free to email/PM me and I will do my best to help you.
I do hope that this explains what exactly a webring is and how to go about joining. I am sure that our members have excellent websites out there. Again if you have any questions or problems please feel free to contact me.
Thanks in advance for your support on The Huntin Lodge's newest venture!
