What is that one piece of equipment, aside current weapon, that you feel you just can't go into the field without?

I agree 100%. A good knife is a must, imo.

I consider a lot of things necessary with a knife at the top of the list. But something for hydration is a close second. Optics, food, tp and a few other things also are musts.

I thought of another piece of equipment. Depending upon where & when one is hunting: A ThermaCell Mosquito Repeller.
I was told if we have a warm May that turkey hunting could get a bit buggy.

I hear ya ez, I fought wearing them for 42 years, of course then it was straight to bifocals. ;D For a few years I could manage to hunt without them but now. Nope, got to have them.

I like to have my trusty folding knife with me.
3.5 inch partially serrated blade, works like a charm for most needs.
I also have a buck 119 Special that I sometimes carry.

Wool clothing, now there is a good item.
That is something that I'm sure a lot of folks don't realize, especially the younger ones, that wool will keep you warmer even when it is wet.

I'd have to say my hunting knife as well. I don't hunt in anything but wool. And you are right Mike about the younger hunters not knowing about the qualities of wool. I've gone out hunting in a drizzle at about 40 degrees many times and didn't suffer any cold because of it, even after getting wet through in some places. Wool is the best.
