On all the sites that offer trade a hunt ..... the lack of posts Seems like the only thing that stops most people is the fact that they dont have private land Does this really matter?....should it? Seems to me that if you like to hunt then any hunt anywhere would be a good hunt , even if that means public land. I would love to have a local guy set me in a good spot on public land in kentucky (for example) in exchange for a set up in NY It doesnt seem to work that way though Seems like the only ones trading are the ones who have it all locked up to begin with , such as outfitters,ect.. The whole idea of trade a hunt seems (to me) to be best served by hooking up the people who dont have the means to sell anything to begin with. Am I alone on this

eh, I guess what everyone else does for/with their hunts is their own thing. They either want what they think is equal or a better value than they are putting up. The key words are 'what they think.' It might not be at all. Just because it is private land doesn't mean anything.

well for all the guys that just love to talk the hunt I am amazed that there isent more hunting going on! ;D For me , I wouldnt care if I even took an animal as long as I got to hunt where they were. The kill is very satisfying but not nearly as much as meeting someone who shares the same passion and has access to places I have not been yet. I think when you go for a trade hunt it should be with the idea that you are going to establish a worthwhile weekend and a kill would just be a bonus. At least thats the way I view it. I have a friend on another site that has twice invited me to hunt Montana with him. The only thing keeping me from taking him up on it is that I have nothing that I feel would be of equal value to offer back. He never asked for a return hunt but I am just uncomfortable taking anything for nothing

Hey Bowtech, they just opened up a new public hunting land trac about 30 mins from me here in Indy. I didn`t get out there but twice this year and didn`t get to scout as much as I wanted but am doing my off season scouting and going to learn every square inch of it. It is a great place and LOTS of deer sign, maybe this fall if you wanted you could come down and we could drag the exhaulted poobah down there and do some hunting. I know of another place a little further south that has camping right near the woods as well.Thats one thing about alot of hunters anymore I don`t see many going rustic and doing deer camps as much. That was always as much fun as actually getting the deer to me.

Somehow I overlooked this today. I would definately like to come down and hunt with you Tracy.
I have also always wanted to be involved with a deer camp. I think it would be great. Hunt all day and tell stories by the campfire at night.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good time. Doubt I would be able to make it away for a weekend in the fall, though.
