I had a new archer stop by yesterday for lessons on how to shoot his new bow properly and accurately. The very first thing I saw was that his draw length set up is WAY TOO LONG for him. I gave him some lessons, even though his draw length was way to long. By the end of his first One Hour lesson he was grouping his arrows in a 3" group, his form was pretty darned decent and he only had a couple of fliers that he created by pulling the shot! I had him take the bow back to the shop that he bought it at and tell them to take at least 1" out of the draw length ( his bow will not go any shorter than 1" on the major settings.) I also told him to have them Short Post the draw length so that he would loose another 1/2" approximately. Here is what I saw: The shop disagreed with my wanting him to have the draw length shortened. But he Insisted because I am trying to teach him and he respects my opinion. The shop Would Not Short Post the draw length for him. They told him that that would not be possible.:confused2: :set1_thinking: They did however put a DLoop on his bow for him, because if you look closely at the photo you will see that he is shooting off the string. He will be back on Tuesday afternoon for another hour's worth of lessons and shooting. When he comes over I will take a photo of his new draw length to post here. Do you think that it would be better for him to have me short post his cams to shorten the draw length a touch more? dick

His form does look good, was his 3 inch groupings at 20 or 30 yards? I am like you on this GPR I think he will be a more "clean" shooter with the proper draw length rather than having to teach his self to overcome the sloppyness of being over drawn. I would short post it and put about 7-8 more twists in each end of his main string to shorten it a tad, see how he shoots and go from there. I also just noticed the cams orientation,,it looks like the top cam is rolling over farther than the bottom?? This could account for being over drawn, I would check the cam roll and check the modules on each NRG cam.

Here's my opinion for ya dick. If the man is comfortable, his DL is right. In all honesty, the string isn't even touching his nose. And his bow arm isn't straight (which is correct ).This may be attributed to his low anchor but I don't see it. You shorten his DL on that short AtA bow and he'll be looking through that peep a pretty fair distance from his eye. If a loop was added, then I would certainly consider shortening it some to get his draw arm level. If he did have the DL shortened an inch and then added a loop, his draw arm may indeed straighten out some but he will still be short on the draw a bit. IMO of course. Got to remember that with a shorter AtA bow, the DL may need to be a tad longer to get the peep a bit closer to the eye. But the NUMBER ONE thing to always consider is COMFORT!!!! OH yeah, one more thing, LOSE THE RUBBER TUBING!!!

D loop will move his anchor point back, so shortning the draw lingth 1" will help out. It looks like his head is tilted back a touch (looks like it anyway). If you could get the string to the corner of his mouth have him anchor with his thumb under his jaw I think the string will touch his nose, the only real thing you would have to do is move the peep up and resight the bow.
