well I have been looking at the new 07 bows all the companies are coming out with. And I have to say I am a little dissapointed just from looking and reading.PSE which owns Browning and Archery Research has come out with several new bows for 07 , but they are all pretty much identical and with a price spread from $399 to $799.
All their new bows come with the NRG cam in solocam and what they call a hybrid dual configuration. With all the bows having the same cams and the risers look pretty much the same as well and all are parallel limb design so the brace heights and ATA`s only vary by a little it makes on feel just upon looks alone why buy the $799 when the #399 will offer the same look, and performance. The Mach X is the only bow with a different cam and it is the X1 cam, outside of that the rest of the line up is pretty much the same. I would have liked to see them add the X1 cam to some more new bows or updated some of the older bows with it.
The Browning line up is pretty much the same, same style bows with the same cams not much has changed on their end.
Mathews has followed their usual footsteps over the years and brought a new bow for 07 the Drenalin,,now just from looks it appears to be a replica switchback with the only difference being the IBO is now at 320 fps. After the success of the switchback I have been waiting to see if or when Mathews would offer a High Speed version, I would like to shoot one and see if the shot feel has changed with the higher speed.
Parker bows had a great run in 06 with the additions of the Frontier and the Hornet, This year they have changed their line up with several new bows and their XP limbs, and their all new ARC cam. Parker looks like they may have everything a bowhunter could want this year in style, affordability and performance.
Fred Bear has jumped on the parallel band wagon ever since they signed on the Primos Gang, but sad to say in my opinion everything they have looks like 05 AR`s Which coincidentally is what the Primos gang were shooting when the switch was made. IMO, anything they have done HAD to be an improvement over their past line, every bear bow I had shot pretty much lobbed arrows like bricks.
The list goes on and on and on so if you get a chance to browse the new bows see for yourself what is out there and if you are in the market for a new bow compare it to what you are shooting first then compare ALL the prices of the identical bows and don`t pick with the old philosophy that you get what you pay for, with most of the manufacturers making all their bows identical the performance won`t differ much if at all from their high end to their low end. The NRG cam will off the same performance on a $399 bow that it will on a $699 bow, I think this new line up is going to weed out the smart buyers from the bandwagon buyers.
Just my 2 cents.
