I stopped by a old friends place the other eveing and he was out back practicing for hunting season. He is the one that got me hot and heavy into compounds years back and he made a simple little device to help tighten his groups at long yards. He likes to start out his practice at 40 yards then move in, he said that starting out at longer yardage will help you when you move closer, but he had a 3 ft X 3ft piece of cardboard with a 3 inch circle cut in the middle placed about 15 feet in front of his target. He said that the hole will only allow you to focus on the bullseye and if you cut a 3 inch hole you will have a 3 inch group as the object is to keep arrows in the circle. I picked up his bow and after about 3 shots was grouping 3 inches at 40 yards, I had always kept myself to a 1 inch group per 10 yards of distance, now after a few shots I had shrunk my long range group by 1 inch on an unfamiliar bow at that? I thought that was pretty cool,,will definately be setting me up 1 at my range,,may even be a good tool to use for young archers as well? Keep their focus ahead of the target until they get proficient.
