Awhile back someone posted a link about getting some free sample vanes. I went a requested them. Forgot all about it. Well, yesterday in the mail I got the vanes. They are from Flex Fletch. I requested what I thought were going to be Blazer style vanes. Well as you can see from the pic they are considerably lower profile than the Blazer. What do you guys think about this. Will they work or do you think the stability will be affected by the low profile? I will tell you how they worked when I get a chance to shoot them. I must say, they are much more flexible than the Blazer.

I have some 2 inch flex fletch vanes but have yet to try them,,they are very pliable I was afraid they may bend or flop in the wind,,would love to know how they worked.

I think that's the whole reason for the success behind the Blazer vane - the high profile and the stiffness of the vane. I'm still curious as to see if a vane the same size but more pliable will control your arrow as well as the Blazers do. Keep us posted.

I tried them and I can tell you this, they are a bear to fletch!! Not much of a base on them things and I had a rough time getting the leading edge to stay down. Fletched 3 arrows and had a fletch come off almost instantly on 2 of them. I attribute that to the base of them. Very tiny. Got some more today in the mail and will be experimenting again. But as of right now I'm pretty much hooked on the 5" Duravanes. A whole lot heavier but the stabilizing abilities are 2nd to none so far. And that includes Blazers.

I see what you are saying about the small base. I didn't notice that at first. I will try to fletch some here in a bit and see how it works out.

Well Ted, I will have to agree. I think they are too small at the base. I had a heck of a time and I could tell they were going to be a problem so I quit after the first arrow.
I guess I will just stick with the Blazers too.
