Ok, here is the debate of the day.
I have been playing with some arrows, trying to pick up a bit of speed.
So I took an old arrow, with just the nock and insert. It was 26 1/4 long, weighed 252 grains. So that is about 9.6gpi. I cut 2 1/4 inches off, so now it is 24 inches and weighs 236 grains. So that is about 9.8 gpi.
So I took 16 grains off, but increased the gpi by .2
How much will that affect the arrow? Is it enough to make it worthwhile? Is there an advantage to a shorter arrow vs a longer arrow? Will it be more or less stable?
Lets here what you have to say.

This is what it boils down to Mike- Spine and FOC. Those are the two determining factors in arrow length as long as you stay within the parameters of a minimum 5gr/lb.And there's only one person that's gonna be able to tell you if there will be an improvement- YOU!!

Actually your grain per inch didn`t change,,with the nock and insert in that is your variable,,how far above the 5 GPP you are is what will determine how much gain you get,,you use 100 grain tips and that will give you a total of 336,,you are good for a draw weight of 67 lbs. If I remember right your draw weight is 58 lbs. correct? That will give you a 5.7 GPP,,you could drop your tip weight down to 85 grains and still hold a 5.5 GPP. You would see alot of difference in speed,,maybe close 20-25 fps.but the down side is your arrows are the 300 series. You are already overspined but not enough to hurt at the their current length. If you cut them shorter you will be even more over spined and you may get eratic flight. I would take the old one and fletch it and try it, but for your bow and draw weight you really need to be using a 200 series in your CX or a 55-65 in like a Gold Tip if you decided to change. The CX in the 200 will weight7.3 GPI,, at 28 inches you will have a round a 240 grain arrow without the field tip,,at 26 inches you will ahve a 225 arrow then add field tip weight,,you would be more even spined going to the 200 series and save alot of weight and be able to keep everything more in spec.
