Duravenes actually. And I must say I am very impressed!! Never went over 4" before and was very happy with my 2.5" Blazers. That is until I tried these yesterday!! WOW is about the only way to describe the flight control with these things. Even trying to get them to steer wrong was futile. I shoot a bow that has a birth cerificate that says 321fps at 29"/71#. Very fast and I think a good reason why I got great performance out of the 5" vanes. Faster speeds need quicker stabilization and the larger vanes seem to have provided that. Especially at shorter ranges (30 yards and in). I may be giving these a whirl for awhile now. Here's a pic of the finished arrows (they look cool too!!) : Click on pic for larger size.

Thanks for sharing, so I take it you would not recommend the 5" vanes for the slower speed bows.

Probably not Mike. There is a ton more resistance with these vanes. How much I couldn't really say with out a chrony. But it would be interesting to find out. My arrows probably at about 480gr now with them. Out of my setup you probably won't get too much of a difference cuz I'm already getting phenomenal speed. Look at it this way, if you have a million dollars and lose $250,000 of it, you're still fairly rich. But lose $25 out of a $100 and you could be hurting.

I agree Michi,,if a bow is shooting under 300-305 I wouldn`t suggest they try them. The extra weight will kill them after 25-30 yrds. I used to use the 5 inch feathers and they flew awesome at any yardage,, they were noisier than vanes but had great flight. % inch feathers weight the same as the 2 inch blazers,,I imagine the 5 inch vanes are in the neighborhood of 30 granes for 3,,have you weighed them yet michi? Maybe if you could and give us an update on them?

11.5 gr per vane. Total 34.5 gr. About a 10gr increase overall compared to the 4" which are 8gr/ea.

But just like speed, the little bit of increase in the grand scheme of things in trade off for better control is a small price to pay. At least with my setup!!

Slightly under 9% with the 100gr tips but can't tell. I'm afraid to go to 125 because these things are flying so nice and I don't want to mess with the spine. These things are a thing of beauty in flight. I'll try to get a vid of them this weekend if it will pick them up.

I agree if you are at 9% I wouldn`t mess with it,,specially if they are flying great I have some 5 inch Marco Vanes I put on a guys crossbow bolts,,may play with an old arrow and see what happens.

Let me know Tracy. You got the same speed as me now. I like the fast stabilization. Could mean a lot during season when you may get a 8 yd shot.
