I was wondering just what choices everyone makes in their archery equipment? What brand of bow do you have? What made you choose it over others? How fast is it? Is speed a big issue with you? Is it a parallel limb bow? Or a standard recurve style? Or just a Recurve period? Are you getting out of it what you want to? If not what do you want? And Why?

My last bow purchase was done with plenty of knowledge, advice, and above all else, patience. I tried as many models out that I could possibly get my hands on. I tok some advice from people I respect. When I narrowed my choices down to several bows, I waited for the deal of the century. And I found it!! If the deal would have come a day or two later, I would probably be shooting a Darton Mag 33 right now. But a gentleman listed the Tech 29 on AT at almost 1/2 price for a brand new 2003 bow. Thyis was a closeout and I bought the bow in Feb of 2004. Paid $325 for a $600 bow. Got the warranty, a sealed bow and a friend in PA out of the deal!!

I bought my Mathew's Switchback after trying four bows at my bowshop. Shooting lefty I didn't have more bow options. Even though I went in with an open mind I thought I wanted another brand, but after shooting the four bows the Mathew's was the smoothest shooter of them all. I have not been chronographed, so I do not know what speed I am shooting. Speed isn't an issue to me, practicing for proper placement of my shots is. I sadly admit I have not touched a bow in a couple of months.

Price was first.
I knew what I wanted to spend, so I went to 2-3 shops and played with the bows in that range.
Narrowed it down to a couple different ones. Then just kept watching for deals.
Went into the local shop here one day and they had the Firestorm Lite on special with all the fixins for the price I had set for the bare bow.
So I got the Firestorm Lite, NV System, Rest, Sight and D Loop for $449.
I've since changed the site and rest but still a pretty good deal.
At the time, I had had it narrowed down to the Firestorm Lite and The Triton. Both were fairly comfortable for me.

I shoot a Mathews Legacy I bought this bow 4 years ago, I had sold my motox bike and was dead set on a new bow, I went to the shop, shot a few and this one was for me! it is a parallell limb bow and i am getting 265 fps out of it at 29in 65#, for me speed isnt very important at all, accuracy is where its at! this thing may be called slow by my buddies but this "slow" still out shoots all of them. I am getting everything I wanted from it, its quiet and deadly accurate

Sounds like everyone so far is buying for all the right reasons Sadly to say I know quite a few that buy for name and name only. Buffcounty32,,don`t worry about speed,,let your friends miss at 300 fps while you are laughing all the way to the dinner table with your 265

Speed will exaggerate any mistake.

I bought the new bow for price. Relaibility and craftsmanship, Martin makes their bows one at a time as orders are recived. I also looked at not only what shoot for me good, but what felt comfortable in my hand. I am not all that concerned with the speed of the bow, as much as I am lookin for accuracy and a fun bow to shoot. I also looked for a forgiving BH and a smooth draw I didnt have to fight. I also looked for a parallel limb bow with a decient ATA. I also talked to alot of people about what they thought of my choices and narrowed it down to a few and went to the pro shop with a better idea of what I wanted to shoot. Took alot of suggestions, coments and feedback, but in the end it was my dicission which was baised on what felt good in the hand and was in my pricerange

Sounds like you put alot of thought and leg work into your decision Matt, And I must say you made and A-1 choice with the model you chose,,nothing against Martin but that is 1 of their best models in my opinion. Price wise and quality wise.
