How do you practice? Sounds pretty straight forward but how do you shoot, one after another or just one shot at a time? When summer comes 'round it's 3D shoots and shooting for about an hr. a day. When the afternoons start getting a little cooler my practice sessions start to take a new sense of seriousness - it's time to get down to business! Now it's one shot at a time, after all most times we only have one shot so we have to make that shot count. I shoot one arrow, go look to see how I did and wait about 20 - 30 min. before shooting the next arrow. Waiting, although sometimes hard to do, allows me to concentrate on the shot I'm making at that time and not get hung up on how I'm shooting. I don't know about you but if I'm shooting a lot of arrows I start ok, get better after warming up then start to go downhill after about 1 1/2 hr. I try to shoot 1 arrow at a time so I don't get so tired and make the most of the shot. Maybe this will help some of you next season.

I start out by going to the target block and shooting a few "blind" rounds meaning i draw close my eyes and concentrate solely on form and not where the arrow goes, once thats all good I step back to 40 and shoot 6 arrows then just shoot a bunch of arrows at each distances. In summer i shoot for around 2 hours a day. the later in the year it goes the smalled I make my target. I also shoot alot of 3d throughout the summer to keep my "animal" shooting up to par and remembering to pick a spot

My practice is very similar to yours Pete. During the off season I'm rarely serious about my shot routine. Sometimes I'll group 3 arrows, sometimes 5 spot em, sometimes have my own personal tourney, try different things, different forms, different accessories, etc. But come a month or so before season I get down to business. I'll shoot from my roof, I'll shoot kneeling, sitting, blind yardages, etc. I make a conscious effort to be as quiet as possible, I'll go through a shot countdown. I'll try to acquire a target quickly. In other words I try to duplicate any possibility that may come at me during my hunt. I too only shoot one arrow and take a major break between shots. And I always try to make that first shot of any session the best one. That is the important one!!
