I was wondering all my life is a turkey really small game? It's kinda in the middle and this is the BEST place to ask! It sounds dumb but I don't know. I think they should call it middle game class!

They're considered small game here but you have to buy a turkey license. They have their own category of license unlike rabbits, squirrels, grouse, pheasant, etc which all fall under the small game license. In years past they'd have a drawing for permits and if you scored on one, you'd got to a license dealer and purchase a tag. This year they implemented a program where all leftover licenses that weren't issued at the drawing could be purchased over the counter by anyone. Before it was reserved for unsuccessful drawing entrants only.

They are considered big game in TN. I use the same tag I would use on deer, bear, and hogs for turkey. I guess it depends on where you live whether they are large or small game.
