I lost a couple inserts and field points yesterday so I bought some today. They are Allen inserts for carbon arrows and Allen bullet point target points for carbon arrows. I have Goldtip arrows. Well, the points dont fit the inserts from Goldtip or Allen. They are too fat to go into the inserts. Just barely, by eye they look good. The inserts seem to fit the shafts, they slide in easily without any real play. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, are there differences between arrow brands as far as insert and field point sizes? I dont see any mention when browsing for broadheads of what size thread or insert or brand specificy,(specificicy?), So why would these field points not fit?

Kasey's absolutely right. Before buying inserts, it's a good idea to go to the mfg website and check the ID of the arrows you will be putting inserts in. I believe GT's are .243 but double check to make sure I'm right.

Which GT`s series do you have? The Expeditions,XT`s and Pro`s are .246 and the the other series are a bit larger,,but the internal thread sizes are all the same for field points. You may have gotten a special size field point and not realized it,,I did that once when I got in a hurry and grabbed the first thing I saw,,lol. Try the Gold Tip easy pull field points, I love them even though I switched over to CX arrows they are great field points.

It was the points. I mixed and matched what I have and the points are different. I dont know how anyone would ever know though, the package doesn't say anything about sizes or anything.
We dont really have a very good selection of archery stuff around here for some reason. I see alot of mail order in my future.
