Hey Guys got? about arrow penetration angles?

I shoot a Trophy Taker rest on my hoyt at almost 70 lbs and no problems.... Elk if your vaynes are hitting the rest you may want to position your nock diffferently so your index vayne is away from the rest

Kasey I got my cock vane up for that TT Rest . I tried all different nock position's. I am almost positive at 310-317 fps my bow is going the rest isn't falling fast enough . I talked to Bowtech about it and he said gravity only goes so fast seems like to us the rest doesn't fall fast enough at the speed my bow is shootin out the arrow. Hope this makes sense . I have bought a New M B G Mach 4 Trap Door rest is supposed to fall alot faster ,Bowtech uses it on his bow So we will give that a shot and see what happens ;D

I'd agree with that Matt if only it were a problem for everybody shooting that fast. That just isn't the case. I know of people using it with the Nitrous cams from Martin and I can tell you that the speeds out of that bow are on par with yours. I believe there are other issues or you have a faulty spring in your particular TT!!

Maybe that is the problem Mitch? I dont know but I am still gona switch rests to the M B G Trap Door ;D. Maybe that will slove the problem,then we can work on the arrow situation.

The issue with the BK2 is the overly short brace height and that will cause most fall away rests to get hit as the fletch is generally only 1/4" from the rest itself before the cable harness has achieved slack.

At 5.5" (such as mine) there is no drop away made that can get out of the way in time.

No company (that I know of) will warranty damage on a drop away , when equipped on brace heights below 6.5" other than M.B.G..

You're kidding right BT? The BK2 is not the only bow out there with that short of brace. Matt's bow is the only one I have ever heard that had this problenm with the TT that hasn't been resolved. Even with the brace height, the TT will still start to drop away upon release of the string. I never heard of any Black Max's having this problem nor any other BK2's for that matter. And then add to that the fact that Matt's bow is only at 50#'s, you really are reaching here. If he was using a Samson at 80#'s you might have an argument, but certainly not in this case. There's a solution to this problem. It's just a matter of finding it.

Short brace heights are a problem for some gravity assist rests.
I have seen Muzzy launchers broken and warranty denied due to short brace.
I have heard the same of other makes from a few of the local shops here who did not receive a second warranty.

I am not saying that this is the only problem and in fact , in talking with Matt a couple days ago I found another problem Potentially.

The fact is that he has the cock feather in the correct position now and the vanes are still contacting.

Part of this contact problem could be the fact that the vanes he is using are higher than the norm combined with the slower drop rate of the gravity rest.

Also,it may truly be no problem at all

The impact of the arrow could be translating energy towards the center of the arrow,causing a flex before the arrow catches momentum and continues through.

This would cause the arrow to follow the line of first entry caused by the arrow in flex.

It is very hard to fix a problem over the screen or phone for that matter and I wish it were not so in this case.

As I stated to Matt , if my bow were grouping this well I would play with the tune but it would hardly keep me from hunting with it

Having said this...Matt at that point told me that the broadhead flight was not the same as the field point flight

Now it comes down to three things.

#1: The spline is off (leaning towards the flex on impact theory .
#2: the broadhead is at fault and the tune is fine.
#3: The rest interference is causing an initial flight glitch which is being magnified by the broadhead.

Now we must wait and see.

Matt got a kick a$$ deal on a great rest (off ebay) that will eliminate one potential problem which leaves only two potentials to go.

Quickest way to figure out if its the head is to borrow a Buddy's broadhead of a different design and see if the same results occur.
(I will be happy to send Matt a Stinger to test against his current head)

If (after shooting a known quality flight head) it is the same or worse we can go to the arrow/Bow Tune being the route cause and that will then be a piece of cake.

Lastly...lets keep in mind what we are talking about here
A short braced bow that is just a rocket being shot by someone that has not had alot of time to shoot it.

Thats not a slap at Matt either.

Its just a fact and another fact is that Matt is shooting very well with this bow.
(better than most I have seen , who generally give up and sell it)

Well I'm glad you have other thoughts beside just the short brace height. Although that could possibly be the problem, I would certainly put it on the lower part of my list. The spine issue is another I'd put on the bottom of the list for fletch contact problems right now. It just can't be that big of an issue shooting at 50#'s but will become one as he gains DW. He's shooting Blazers ain't he? That's a very key point all in itself. The fact that they are wider and spin faster could be the problem all in itself. I have faith that between you two it will get worked out. I'm anxioiusly awaiting the outcome myself.
