I have always used cheap binocs. I have a habit of breaking binocs, and never wanted to own a good pair. This past summer at 3D shoots, I started using a pair of 8x27 Bushnell Trophy binocs. Not the most expensive glass, but a huge improvement over what I was using. I was very impressed with them. Thursday night I got a pair of Vortex 8x42 Sidewinders. I got to play with them a bit yestersay, and OMG!!! These binoculars are incredible. It was drizzling and foggy, and these glasses were incredibly bright and clear. Today in bright sunny conditions, these binocs were equally impressive looking into the dark shadows. I can't tell you how much these glasses impressed me. Also the waranty is incredible. The warranty is unlimited, unconditional, and transferable. Vortex optice might not be an everyday name in optics for hunters, but I'm betting they will, and soon. Their price for the quality is amazing! If you are in the market for new binocs you would be foolish to not compare what you are looking at to something comparable in the vortex line. They are also coming out with a line of Riflescopes, and after seeing the quality of the binoculars, I definetely want to try our their scopes. Vortex Optics
