Anybody have trouble using all 5 pins on the TRU-SITE EXTREME 5 pin sight...Seems there isn't room enough to sight in beyond 30 yards for me..I'm shooting 50-54 lbs with Beman 500 carbons. I'd like to use all of the pins, since I PAID for 5 pins - not 3... My older BRITE-SITE had enough to get me out to 40 YDS. I like to sight in from 10-40 yds. MAybe the trouble is, I shoot older bows like Browning Nomads and Bear -Black Bear...but They are at draw weights that I can draw and AFFORD! Any comments?

Wish I could help But I shoot with 1 pin,,Set at 20yd's. HEy 4pointer....is it the adjustable type? Do you ever set for longer or shorter ranges, or wait for that 20 yd. shot?

I'm the same as 4pointer, I generally only use one pin. The areas that I hunt are very thick and you can't shoot much further than that.
I use the Cobra Sidewinder and have played around with different ranges while practicing. It is three pins and plenty of room to move pins.

Yeah Mike, but I spent extra money to get 5 pins and can't use 'em...I guess I should leave it alone and take off a couple of pins....sight in 20-40 yds and be happy...I guess.

I DO THE SAME THING,,, MORE THAN 1 PIN AND I'M CONFUSSED , SO I PRACTICE AT 20YD'S AND IN CLOSE

What you will have to do to bring up your yardage is if you use a peep sight then raise it about a 1/2 inch, then you can raise your main sight housing up 1/2 inch and that should open up your range to use all 5 pins. But at your poundage 10,20,30 should be plenty I wouldn`t try to shoot past 35 unless you have your bow shooting in the 260+ range. Part of the reason you are having trouble using all 5 pins is you have too much distance between the top pins, meaning you have to elevate the bow more for each longer yardage, the more you elevate the more arc on your arrow and the more harder it is for the arrow to utilize all its energy at point of impact, after 30-35 yards gravity is doing more for your arrow than your bow.

Even with a 2" sight ring, there is only 1 1/4" of adjustment in the pin slots......I shoot older bows and like don't get anything close to 250 fps! Thanks for the advice but I'm afraid your solutions will not work with my bow... TRU-GLO tells me this sight was designed for more modern bow technology where 250-350 fps is common.....I'm better off to stay with my old brass open pins! or maybe another BRITE-SITE as I have on my BEar. I'm still P.O.'ed !!!
Thanks Guys.

Yep that was what I was getting at,, the slower bows unless you you get your arrow trajectory as flat as you can you will have to much elevation and arc for smaller sights to work. I have taken older PSE Polaris`s and older bears and after reworking the arrows they shot and raising the peep and sight they gained maybe 10 yards at max on their sight. Really not worth it for the hassle you go through.

I was gonna say the same thing. You have to many pins and not enough speed. My bow shoots roughly 260-270fps and I am only using a 3 pin sight. I would suggest selling the sight or returning it and looking to get another sight with less pins.
I think you will like the fiber optic sights over the brass pins, as you will be able to get a little more hunting time in before you have to call it a day. The brass pins just dont glow like fiber optics do.

Yup, I agree Doc....I am contemplating returning this one for another BRITE-SITE....TRU-GLO says they WILL do that.

Tru Glo is a great company and they make great products as well. I got the 3 pin sight for my youngest stepsons bow and it is great, it came with the light at walmart for $19.

I bought that one as a back up for my bow while my site was sent back to the factory for replacement. I think I am going to figure out a way to use it on my site once it is returned.

I use the 3-pin Tru-Glo sight myself, and am very happy with it. I purchased the Tru-Glo Sight Light seperately, and it is a welcome addition to my set-up. I'd heartily recommend these products to anyone.....'slap.......
