Since you guys have been on the subject of turkey call making here lately, I thought I'd jump in and show everyone this.... About a month ago a rancher friend of mine was pulling some old Western Juniper fence posts on his property to replace them with new posts. His Great Grandfather who was an original Homesteader/rancher on this property cut, limbed and set those posts in the ground over 100 years ago. Since Juniper is in the Cedar family and grows slowly(very small, tight growth rings)that would make that wood well over 200 years old ! I was lucky enough to purchase half a flatbed trailer load of this wood. Here are some pic's of a few of them propped up against my fence for the pic's.

This is what I'm making out of this beautiful wood... The striker is also made from it along with Western Big Leaf Maple that came from a tree in my yard...Poplar peg. I'm starting to sell them with an optional hand made leather pouch. They are going to be Limited Edition calls, but very reasonably priced. BTW, They sound sweet ! Sound very much like the old M.L.Lynch JET slates . #1 PROTO This one goes in MY vest !

Read that on the other site Scott, nice wood to work with. I have a nice peice of cedar I got from a guy who was cutting it down in his yard. It's about seven feet long and about two feet across. I want to get it cut,so I can work with it,doing some shelf building and picture frames... What I'm interested with is that Harley parked out front-What do you ride? Last year I got to ride my buddies bike all summer,it was a 2003 883 "sportster" stroked out to a 1200 CU...........Replaced with a custom stretched frame and a 280 rear tire, straight pipes(shorties)teardrop tank with dragbar handles...........Painted black(of course)............ ;D

I'll take any scrap cut-offs from ya when your done there my ol' buddy !! About the bike ~ It actually is My wife, Annie's. It's a 1974 FLH cammed Shovel with a S&S Shorty carb.I stripped all the Cruiser hardware off of it and put a small solo "Pony" seat on it .Annie was having handling problems with the original Glide front end, so it got scrapped and I installed a lighter FX front fork on it...problem solved. It is still a work in progress...note primered front fender that I chopped several inches off both ends. Annie likes Apes , so she will get those too and some new pipes. My Scoot is a chopped, 1947 HD 45 Flathead trike.Bought it as boxes of parts with a frame. It has a new top end...I punched it out 40 over with new oversized pistons, valves etc. I installed a new roller bearing clutch to eliminate the old ball bearing clutch basket . It has 3 speeds forward and reverse with a suicide shifter . Foot clutch. The frame is racked 47 degrees and extended 4". It has a vintage Girter (very long) front fork...no front brake with drag bars and unbaffled drag pipes. I converted the electrics over to 12 V from 6V. Run Chevy points, rotor and condenser in the manual spark advance.Replaced the old Linqert carb with a Mikkuni item. It is chain driven through a automotive (original) style rear differential and axles.Strangly enough, the brake master cylinder is an original Jeep item! I also altered the rear of the frame to allow for a pony seat for a passenger and luggage rack.lots of custom frabication. I'm runnin 13" chrome deep-dished reversed rear rims with B.F.G 50s rubber. She runs like a lawnmower on steroids ! I'll bet your Buddie's Sporty Stroker runs like a rocket !!
